Board and Architecture Committee Ignore CCRs, Set Arbitrary Rules! Multiple instances of the Board and Architectural Committee creating rules that conflict with NC state and federal laws. Several cases of trying to enforce “retroactive” fines for architectural changes made by previous, not current, owners who bought their homes “as is.” Fraudulently claiming Architectural Change Requests were not filed when homeowners have acknowledgment and time stamps of submission receipts by the management firm. Spending HOA dues to cater picnics while NOT taking care of diseased and dead trees threatening homeowners’ property. Appointing spouses to serve together on boards without holding elections for empty seats. The only recourse for homeowners is to hire a lawyer, as they refuse to discuss issues, compromise, or negotiate. Unfortunately, this results in our dues being needlessly spent on legal fees to protect Board members’ egos. In addition, we have less than one year’s budget in our reserve fund due to poor management by the board. Etc.
