The biggest mistake I have made in my life is buy a home with a property owner association (Perkiomen Woods, in Collegeville, PA), I have learned that most boards on property owners' associations are corrupt and rob you of the pleasures of homeownership. Within the first two weeks after moving into my new home I discovered that the board does not take care of the common areas. This was proven to me because a tree roots on the common area had penetrated my underground pipes. (I had a home inspector but he %#)%&#) me too.) The board refused to make me whole. But promised to replace my sidewalk and repay me for having the tree removed; this promise was never fulfilled. Perkiomen Woods used to send important information through the mail to homeowners but now refuse to do so. If you don't have Internet access or a cell phone they refuse to send you timely information. The board arbitrarily changes the color of your house or make demands that you do not endorse. They make rules that the board members break. It seems that the only people who can get away with breaking rules are the board members. If you file a complaint with the management company, they are not heeded. When you write to the board they don't respond. If you send a certified letter to the board, the letter is returned to you as undeliverable...the same address that is listed on the rules and regulations. They refuse to send you correspondence to your legal name claiming that they need a copy of your driver's license to do so and further claim that this is mandated in the by-laws (which it isn't). When they reference the by-laws they refuse to show you a copy in the by-laws. The bottom line is all POAs/HOAs are dystopian totalitarian dictatorships and should be avoided, for me especially true at Perkiomen Woods, Collegeville, PA. There is no legal recourse. The POA/HOA will 'own you' when you buy a home within them.

Property Owners Associations or Home Owners Associations are really totalitarian dictatorships with childish 'clicks'. These entities were created by minds that supported Lenin, Stalin, and Hitler. Since I moved into my home I have rued the day! I have been lied to, I have been harassed relentlessly. If I ask a question, I am never answered. When I write to the board they won't respond. If you complain to the Attorney General they will only tell you to seek legal advice. So, if you wish to live in such a community, I suggest you have a lot of money to fight these egregious practices. A house should be enjoyable. Living in a totalitarian dictatorship is not!

Perkiomen Woods is nothing short of a totalitarian dictatorship. If you have always wanted to live under a fascist regime then by all means buy a house (and they are built with shit and spit--I know because I own one) in this depraved community.
