Fairway Oaks at Stallion Springs

Incredibly unethical HOA and members on the board.
Incredibly unethical HOA and members on the board. To begin with, the president is a real estate agent who, in the past, was reprimanded by the Dept. of Real Estate in California. And believe me, it takes a lot to get in trouble with this entity! She (the president) and board members allowed a renter to be on the board (actually, this renter was the GF of another board member, and they lived together, but she was not on title). In addition, this president was purchasing condos from homeowners who were recently widowed and buying them below comps. She did renovate them, so I will give her credit there. However, project maintenance of the development was deferred repeatedly, and thus the condos are in dire need of roofs, asphalt, and major stucco repair. When the maintenance manager left, this same president then placed her daughter in the development, and thus the HOA is paying her. It is my opinion that this was done to ensure that her daughter’s wages cover at least three of the condos that she owns because the girl does nothing!! The HOA fees are now $380.00, and there are no amenities. For example, there is no pool, garages, carports, clubhouse, or tennis courts. There are still no reserves (due to mismanagement), so there will be special assessments when the repairs are done. I do believe one small assessment has already been imposed, but it was minimal to avoid protests. However, the repairs are sorely needed, as one elderly homeowner fell (multiple times) because the sidewalks and roads are in shambles. She subsequently passed this year. To add insult to injury, a review of the Secretary of State website shows that this president/realtor placed all of her condos in an LLC called Rusty Jiggs to avoid personal liability. She also is the main listing and selling agent for these condos, albeit some owners are getting smarter and using other real estate agents. Think twice before buying a condo here. Your voice will not be heard. If you bring misconduct to their attention, it will be ignored, and there is no governmental entity that will enforce HOA rules and regulations. I attempted to bring the issues to the homeowners’ attention, but many were afraid. I received a lot of grief over this, and even had an elderly owner actually yell at me and call me a troublemaker. I wanted to confront him but feared he would have a heart attack, so I walked away. It literally became so contentious that I had no choice but to sell and move away (actually, the man who screamed at me moved away too… after I moved). I would not recommend this development and its illegal business practices to anyone.
Help the next homeowner avoid surprises.
