Really bad communication on the HOAs part.
Really bad communication on the HOAs part. I guess they got bought out and change owners but I was fined $1000 for my house not being painted but I never received the paperwork or a call from anyone for over 3 months. I tried to call multiple times but was told they were in the middle of the buyout and would get back to us on the house painting.

Well, not only the fees, but the management.
Well, not only the fees, but the management. I went to an HOA meeting a few times and the people that run the HOA meeting do not listen to you. Then they start voting on things and you try to ask a question or someone else tries to ask a question and they just ignore you and then the next thing they say, is I second it and they agree on where the money is gonna be spent and how and everything. And then they keep raising our fees because they want to get fancy playgrounds in some areas and then in some areas they want to put the cheap nasty things. They didnβt even ask us about replacing them. And then they said that they didnβt want to pay for winter grass as it was too expensive. And they said that there was some money left over in the budget but instead of putting it towards not raising our rates, they were going to put it toward something that they wanted and then they raised our rates $31 more.

They are decent, never had many issues.
They are decent, never had many issues. Worst issue we ever had was a letter we received because our neighbor complained to them about a tree extending over the fence into their yard. I was more angry with my neighbor for not knocking on the door, so ai could have my gardner fix it.

They issue parking violations if a vehicle is parked on the street overnight in front of your house, even if you don't know whose it is. They will fine you and you have to watch what house the driver goes into and fill out a form to say where they went. If you don't know (because it happened between midnight and 5am), you will have to fill out another form to declare that you don't know, and tick a box to promise to spy on them and inform the board once you do know where the driver went.

We pay close to $200 a month and they donβt do shit.
We pay close to $200 a month and they donβt do shit. They fined us for our neighbors bushes. They made us take our sunshade down. They are the Nazis of HOAs.

The HOA is absolutely corrupt!
The HOA is absolutely corrupt! There are multiple harassment, discrimination, retaliation. Financial, physical altercation, issues, exercised and supported by the BOARD of DIRECTORS, which contains an inner circle of friends and family that keep voting themselves in. They particularly go after anyone who does not agree with them or that speaks up.

They never return phone calls or emails.
They never return phone calls or emails. They go through managers like water and never let the new ones know what's going on with current home owners complaints. There is more but it is so long.

There was a coup and a homeowner group fired all the companies providing services, pools, landscaping, etc. they floundered around, then hiked the HOA fees. It feels like they are building the monies and will then steal it and walk with the cash.

We've had some very good management companies and currently have a very bad one ran by a white South African who behaves as Elon Musk. She is currently going against our governing documents so that she can raise the HOA dues by a very large mount to pay for new roofs rather than allowing owners to vote on a special assessment as per our CC&Rs. I would rather not go on in this format. There a few condos for sale in my community. In spite HOA MS, I think the older vegetation is charming and currently well maintained. The design of the condos is excellent. The homeless a problem. I would say sit in on a board meeting as a condition of sale and lay down your expectations with HOA MS in no uncertain terms before you purchase. Talk to at lease three residents before you purchase. Good luck.
